This is a table runner made from baby alpaca wool, one of the finest, softest, and most valuable natural fibers from the Andes.
In our textiles we represent aspects of our daily lives, as well as our Apus and Ñustas, important figures within the Andean worldview. Each design reflects the deep relationship between the community, nature, and the spiritual world.
In this textile we can observe 13 pallay (designs ), each with a special meaning:

The owl: in the Andean world, it is the animal that sees everything at night, symbolizing vigilance and wisdom.

The condor: represents the upper world and is considered the messenger between the earthly world and the spiritual world.

The serpent: symbolizes the inner world or underworld, associated with wisdom and deep knowledge.

The toad: represents fertility and abundance, especially connected to rain and fertile land.

The llama: an essential animal for our communities; besides providing wool, it also helps us transport our products across the Andes,etc.
Each of these symbols tells a story and helps keep alive the textile tradition and the Andean worldview.
